The Work School primarily focuses on environmental matters, thus playing a major role in cleaning the town after a heavy winter and maintaining the greenery, streets and footpaths throughout the summer. The staff of the Work School play a vital role in creating an attractive appearance for the town, ensuring it is clean and tidy, and not least, pleasant for residents and the increasing number of tourists who visit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daily working hours and working period<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All age groups start work on 11 June. 14-year-olds work every other week, one week in the morning and the next in the afternoon, from Monday to Thursday. We are closed on Fridays. Morning sessions are from 9 am to 12 pm and afternoon sessions from 1 pm to 4 pm. 15 and 16-year-olds have variable working hours. 14-year-olds work 79 hours over the summer, 15-year-olds 101 hours, and 16-year-olds 123 hours.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong><br \/> 16-year-olds are paid 835 kr. per hour, plus holiday pay. It is very important that 16-year-olds let us know if they intend to use their tax card so that no tax is deducted. 15-year-olds will be paid 627 kr. per hour, plus holiday pay. 14-year-olds will be paid 555 kr. per hour, plus holiday pay. Holiday pay (10.17%) is paid to all age groups.<\/p>\n<h4>Application for a job at the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Work Camp<\/h4>\n<p>Applicants apply online via MY PAGES. Applicants and guardians are asked to familiarise themselves with the arrangements and rules of the Work Experience Programme, among other things, before completing the application. <strong>The application deadline is until and including <\/strong><strong>16th May.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Applicants apply online via My Pages on the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur website or here.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications for young people born in 2003 \u2013 peer education, arts group, general groups, leisure and forestry&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Applications for young people born in 2004&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Applications for young people born in 2005&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>The rules of the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Work Camp apply equally during working hours and during social activities organised by the camp:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>A foreman is a supervisor at a workplace. His next superior is a superintendant.<\/li>\n<li>All staff are to be hard-working, punctual, honest and courteous.<\/li>\n<li>Illness and other absences must be reported to the Vinnusk\u00f3linn office as soon as possible by a guardian.<\/li>\n<li>The use of tobacco is prohibited. The same applies to alcohol and other drugs.<\/li>\n<li>Shop and store runs are not permitted during working hours, including coffee breaks.<\/li>\n<li>Employees must keep the workplace tidy and clean, and take good care of the tools used.<\/li>\n<li>Staff are liable for any relevant costs if they commit acts of vandalism to the property of the Work School and others.<\/li>\n<li>During coffee breaks, staff are expected to have a healthy and good lunch. Energy drinks and fizzy drinks are not permitted.<\/li>\n<li>The use of mobile phones is not permitted during working hours. The same applies to iPods\/MP3 players unless permission is granted by the team leader.<\/li>\n<li>All employees provide their own protective clothing and are responsible for their own clothes and belongings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The office of the Work School is in the old auxiliary building at Hrauntunga 5.
