Applications for the first allocation of residential plots in Phase 3 of the Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0arhverfi opened in mid-March. The deadline for applications was 22 April 2019, and the first plots were allocated at a town council meeting yesterday. Development in the neighbourhood is already underway. All amenities are within easy reach, employment opportunities in the local area are plentiful, and there is close proximity to the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur uplands and beautiful natural attractions.<\/p>\n In the Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0ar neighbourhood, a mixed development of detached houses, semi-detached houses, terraced houses and low-rise blocks of flats is rising. Plots for multi-unit properties are situated on the flat near the school, but the development then ascends the Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0arbrekkan slope, with terraced houses and semi-detached houses at the bottom and detached houses further up where the gradient is steeper. The neighbourhood is suitable for everyone, whether it's couples, small or large families, or older individuals who want to downsize but still move into a new home. The local primary school, Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0 School<\/a> , has already opened, and a nursery will open in autumn 2019. The design and planning of the neighbourhood places an emphasis on cohesive streetscapes and an environmentally friendly layout, and the walking routes to schools and sports facilities are safe and well-designed. The siting of the Hamranes Line through the neighbourhood has hindered development.
