The theme of the game this year is „Earth formations“. Many things affect the appearance of the land, and the influences can be volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, weather and water, but the game leads to various interesting places. The aim of the game is to lead participants far and wide across the hinterland of Hafnarfjörður and enjoy the great outdoors and nature.

A high-quality, free orienteering map

Participants receive a free, high-quality orienteering map and search for 27 orienteering markers located throughout the town's countryside. Some of the markers are close to the town, for example, by Hvaleyrarvatn and Stórhöfði, but others are further away, in Helgadallur, on Helgafell, in Litlu-borgir, in Sauðabrekkugjá, Fjallgjá, Réttarklettum, Óttastaðaseli and elsewhere, and some even just outside the town limits, such as on Fjallið Eina and the remarkable Urðarás.

The game runs from the beginning of June and the final deadline for submissions is 23rd September, but anyone who submits 9, 18 or 27 solutions can become a Lightfoot, Walker or Puzzle King, and everyone who attends the harvest festival and has submitted solutions can win prizes in the draw.

Sponsors

Numerous companies are providing prizes, including Altis, Ban Kúnn, Burger-inn, Fjallakofinn, Fjörukráin, the City of Hafnarfjörður, Hafnarfjörður Harbour, Músik og sport, Origo and Von. The main sponsor of the game, apart from the City of Hafnarfjörður, is VHE, while other sponsors include Fjarðarkaup, Gámaþjónustan, the Þöll Nursery and Landsnet.

Guðni Gíslason designed the game for the 12th time, and it is Hönnunarhúsið ehf. that is publishing the game in collaboration with the City of Hafnarfjörður. As before, Ómar Smári Ármannsson assisted with the selection of the scavenger hunt locations and wrote the trivia facts, as he is the person most familiar with the Reykjanes Peninsula and runs the information website, ferlir.is.

Everyone can take part

There is great interest in the game, and people look forward to the release of the cards every year. This year was no exception, as the weather was glorious and the conditions were perfect for a walk in the town's uplands. As the game takes a long time, everyone can go at their own pace. It is an ideal family game, and people learn to appreciate what our environment has to offer.

..but have you been to the Little Cities?

„..but have you been to Little Cities?“ is a common question from Gudni, the game warden, when people tell him about a visit to some famous landmark abroad. The answer is usually no, even though you only have to go just above Helgafell to find the Little Cities.

Guðni Gíslason, match official and a great lover of the outdoors and the Hafnarfjörður uplands

In the game, you can expect to come across traces of human habitation from bygone ages in the lava fields, caves, sinkholes, diverse geological formations, and vegetation, as the hinterland of Hafnarfjörður and its surroundings is incredibly varied and interesting. Guðni encourages everyone to get a map while stocks last and start searching. The maps are available free of charge, for example, at Fjarðarkaup, the town hall, the library, swimming pools, sports halls, Musik og sport, Altis, petrol stations and elsewhere.

More information about the games can be found at ratleikur.blog.is and on www.facebook.com/ratleikur

Participants are encouraged to share photos from the game and tag # Rally 2019

<style> .wpb_animate_when_almost_visible { opacity: 1; }</style> Ratleikur Hafnarfjarðar er nú hafinn í 22. sinn. Þema leiksins í ár er „jarðmyndanir“.
