The 17th of June will be celebrated in grand style, with a festive programme running from morning until evening all over the town. There should be something for every member of the family to enjoy, as the programme is varied, lively and fun. We encourage Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur residents to invite relatives and friends HOME to the town and take a stroll around their beautiful fjord to enjoy themselves.<\/p>\n<h2>Celebration programme for 17th June<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>8:00 Flags lowered and flag salute at the Rock<br \/><\/strong>The Hraunb\u00faar Scout Group is flying its flag all over town.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11:00 National costume gathering in Flensburg<br \/><\/strong>Annr\u00edki \u2013 National Costumes and Jewellery provides assistance with wearing national costumes and encourages the people of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur to wear national costumes from all countries. National costume photoshoot at Hafnarborg at 15:00.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vintage cars from the Vintage Car Club of Iceland meet on the car park at Flensborg School at 11 a.m.<\/strong> The cars will then drive ahead of the parade down to the car park at Hafnarborg and will be on display there in the morning.<strong><br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>13:00 Parade from Flensburg School<br \/><\/strong>March down Hringbraut, along L\u00e6kjargata and onto Strandgata to Thorsplani. The residents of East Street welcome residents of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the surrounding area, and as in previous years, there will be plenty of fun and exciting things on offer. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Linnet Path<\/strong><br \/>Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Snowboarding Club is putting on a snowboard exhibition<\/p>\n<p><strong>The seafront, streets and squares<br \/><\/strong>On Strandgatan there will be stalls, fairground rides, shooting ranges, table tennis, archery, darts and music. There will also be creative summer activities and the art group from the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Summer School on the move.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Old Stream School<br \/><\/strong>The sailing club \u00deytur will have boats and kayaks at L\u00e6knar, and children will be given pony rides by the riding club S\u00f6rli.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Healthcare institutions<br \/><\/strong>Hei\u00f0a \u00d3lafsd\u00f3ttir and Helgi Hannesson visit hospitals and perform Icelandic gems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Transport and road closures<br \/><\/strong>The town centre will be closed to car traffic during the celebrations:<br \/>Strandgata and Austurgata: at L\u00e6kjargata<br \/>Linnet Path: at Fjardar Street and 23 Hverfisgata<br \/>Mj\u00f3sund: at East Street<br \/>Disabled parking at 1 Linnet Path<br \/>Residents are encouraged to park legally near the town centre and walk or take the bus to event venues.<br \/>We point out the numerous car parks at L\u00e6kjarsk\u00f3li, T\u00e6knisk\u00f3linn, Flensborg, the Strandgata sports hall and V\u00ed\u00f0ista\u00f0ask\u00f3li.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17th June at the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Museum of Local History<br \/><\/strong>A lively and informative museum for the whole family. Open from 10 am.<br \/>\n11:00-17:00 in five houses: The Packhouse,<br \/>\nthe S\u00edvertsens House, Beggub\u00fa\u00f0, the Bungalow and G\u00fatt\u00f3, as well as a photography exhibition at<br \/>\nthe coastal path.<\/p>\n<p>Free admission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Warehouse, 6 West Street.<\/strong><br \/>The Packhouse is the main exhibition building of the Folk Museum and houses three<br \/>\nExhibitions. The themed exhibition \u201eIn the Shelter of a Cloister\u201c, It Was Thus\u2026 The History of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<br \/>\nfrom the settlement to the present day and on the top floor of the house, colourful can be found<br \/>\na toy exhibition for children and adults. In the Packhouse, a treasure hunt is on offer.<br \/>\nfor the children.<\/p>\n<p><strong>S\u00edvertsens' House, 6 Vesturgata.<br \/><\/strong>The S\u00edvertsens House is the oldest house in the town, built in the years<br \/>\n1803-1805 by Bjarne Siversen, who was in his day the greatest entrepreneur in<br \/>\nIn Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, there was a fishing industry, a shop and a shipyard in the town. In the house, one can find<br \/>\nA wide range of information about Bjarni and his family.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beggub\u00fa\u00f0, 3b Kirkjuvegur.<br \/><\/strong>The house houses the Folk Museum's shop museum. The house was<br \/>\nBuilt as a shop in 1906 for Egil Jacobsen's shop. It previously stood<br \/>\non Strandgata but has now been moved to the museum's grounds, restored and opened as<br \/>\nshow house.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bookless Bungalow, 32 Vesturgata.<br \/><\/strong>The bungalow was built as a residence for the Scottish brothers.<br \/>\nHarry and Douglas Bookless in 1918, as they ran an extensive fishing business from<br \/>\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in the first half of the 20th century. The house contains the history of the foreign fishing industry from<br \/>\nThe first half of the 20th century in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is covered, but the house itself is also<br \/>\nA unique collector's item.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gutt\u00f3, 7 South Street<br \/><\/strong>In the Good Templar Hall, the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Folk Museum has set up<br \/>\nthe exhibition \u201eG\u00fatt\u00f3 \u2013 House of the Templars, cradle of social and cultural life for 130 years\u201c there<br \/>\nlight is shed on the history of the Order of the Good Templars in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the great<br \/>\nThe social and cultural activities that have taken place in the house over the years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Coastal Path<\/strong><br \/>\nOn the promenade along the harbour in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Folk Museum with<br \/>\nexhibition space for its photography collection. The exhibition can now be seen there.<br \/>\n\u201eThe Port of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in 110 Years\u201c.
