Tree growth that extends beyond the boundaries of a property can cause inconvenience and even danger to pedestrians and motorists.<\/p>\n<p>\u00cd <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stjornartidindi.is\/Advert.aspx?ID=6456f377-e3d0-4e10-b504-1c48449e0f83\">Building regulations<\/a> Section 7.2.2. states regarding trees and shrubs: \u201eThe occupier of a plot is required to keep the growth of trees and shrubs on the plot within the plot boundaries. If the owner fails to do so, and where the growth of trees or shrubs extends beyond the boundary onto streets, footpaths or open spaces, the highway authority or manager of the area is authorised to remove the part that causes a nuisance or is unsightly, at the owner's expense, after prior notice.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Landowners are encouraged to trim their trees at the property boundary where appropriate, so that everyone can pass safely and without obstruction.
