The City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Theatre Society have entered into an agreement regarding the society's use of the Chapel at the L\u00edfsg\u00e6\u00f0asetur in St. J\u00f3, at 41 Su\u00f0urgata. The theatre company will have temporary, free use of the Chapel for its theatrical activities and, in return, commits to running, among other things, open drama courses for children and adults, creative writing workshops and other activities designed to foster the interest of local residents in theatre and other art forms.<\/em><\/p>\n

Members of the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Theatre Society, together with the Mayor, the Director of the Administration Department, and the Events Manager for the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. <\/sup><\/em><\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The Theatre Society is permitted to use the Chapel free of charge. The contribution from the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is in the form of a waiver of rent and electricity and heating costs, and it may use the Chapel on rare occasions for its own activities or events. At the same time, the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Theatre Society commits to running theatre activities, which will include, amongst other things, open drama courses for adults \/ children and young people, playwriting workshops, productions of plays in the autumn and spring, and evenings and open houses. The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Theatre Society guides its work by the cultural policy of the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the policy of the St. J\u00f3 Wellbeing Centre, and commits to participating in the planning and execution of events in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, e.g. the Christmas Adventure in Hellisger\u00f0i, events during Bright Days and more. The Theatre Society shall receive all income generated by the operation and shall cover all costs and expenses arising from its operation, such as staffing, cleaning, equipment, insurance and marketing. These revenues are intended to strengthen the association and enhance its services to the residents. This agreement came into effect on 4 July 2019 and is valid until 4 July 2020 without the possibility of termination.<\/p>\n
