Helgafell is one of the most popular hiking trails in the capital region, located in the back garden of Hafnarfjörður, and, like too many other mountains, has received its share of unsightly graffiti and vandalism. On a fine day, hundreds of Icelanders and foreign visitors walk up the mountain, and Helgafell has proven to be a path to better health for many.

Main content
The group was well-equipped and, armed with wire brushes and manpower, found it relatively easy to erase the graffiti, some of which was quite old. Nearly 80 signs of vandalism were erased during the group's five-hour trip to Helgafell. It was considered timely to undertake this action to remove the graffiti, which had become excessive and spread all over the mountain.

Landverðir hjá Umhverfisstofnun og sjálfboðaliðar úr hópi Veraldarvina, sem staðsettir eru á Íslandi þessa dagana, héldu á Helgafellið í morgun til að afmá fangamörk, merki og nöfn sem rist hafa verið í móbergið á fjallinu síðustu vikur og mánuði.
