The City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur recently took the lead among Icelandic municipalities and is offering plots at a discount of up to 30%, provided that the development on the plots is environmentally certified.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A progressive initiative that will hopefully encourage more local authorities to take action on environmental issues.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The municipality has approved seven proposals for measures intended to encourage housebuilders to prioritise the environment, in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, stricter requirements for lower greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere and increased public environmental awareness. This is an extremely progressive initiative that makes Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur an attractive place to build sustainably and hopefully encourages more municipalities to take action on environmental issues.
