From autumn 2019, a new arrangement for the catering service for pupils in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's primary schools will be introduced. The same provider, Sk\u00f3lamatur ehf, will continue to provide the service in seven of the town's primary schools, while one school, \u00c1slandssk\u00f3li, will manage its own catering.<\/p>\n
At the start of the school day, free porridge with milk and cinnamon is available to pupils in all schools before lessons begin (served approximately 10-15 minutes beforehand). You just need to turn up and register your attendance on the day, so we can keep track of how many people are using the service.<\/p>\n
Pupils are offered the option of a fruit\/vegetable subscription, delivered mid-morning each school day, instead of bringing a packed lunch from home \u2013 but of course, they are still welcome to bring their own packed lunch. The fruit is sold via a monthly subscription with Sk\u00f3lamat, and the same ordering and cancellation rules apply as for the school meals subscription. Fruit\/vegetables cannot be purchased for individual days and are therefore only available for all days of the month at a time, regardless of individual circumstances. Consequently, no refunds are given for absences due to illness, holidays, etc., as this is a flat-rate fee. The daily fee for fruit\/vegetables is 102 kr. per pupil per day, so the monthly subscription only varies according to the number of school days in the month. This is based on a set amount per pupil per day; younger pupils (Years 1-7) receive it in their classrooms, while older pupils (Years 8-10) collect it from the canteen during break time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lunch will be available as before with a similar arrangement, i.e. sold via a meal subscription where you can choose from a set of days during the week. There will continue to be two courses daily: a main course designed for the majority, and an alternative option which often offers a vegetarian option alongside a meat-based one. The price of meals on a monthly subscription is kr. 463 per day, after the council's subsidy has been applied. It will also continue to be possible to purchase a 10-meal card, which will then have a higher price per meal than the subscription.\u00a0<\/p>\n
