The new department takes over responsibility for the town's customer service,<br \/>\nIT department and communications matters. In addition, cultural and tourism matters, along with<br \/>\nto related institutions in the new field.<\/p>\n<p>The changes were approved by the town council and the municipal council in<br \/>\nspring and build them on extensive analytical work on the town's services. In<br \/>\nThe emphasis in that work was on eliciting as many viewpoints as possible, both from within<br \/>\nof the administration as town residents. A special feedback portal was opened where residents<br \/>\nThey were able to send suggestions for improvements, and a residents' meeting was held there.<br \/>\nwhich concerned the provision of services by the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. <em>\u201eThis work revealed that much could be improved in the provision of services.<br \/>\nnot least because infrastructure and procedures have not changed in line with<br \/>\nchanged needs and a changed environment. With these changes, we are taking<br \/>\nan important step to modernise and improve the town's services, as we want the<br \/>\nthat she is in the front row\u201c<\/em> says R\u00f3sa Gu\u00f0bjartsd\u00f3ttir, the mayor. The new Service and Development Department will prioritise projects and actions over the coming weeks and months and work on implementing projects designed to shorten communication channels, speed up processing and improve the council's services.
