A number of suggestions were received from residents when the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur
\nsought, in the middle of summer, nominations from residents for awards for
\nbeautiful and well-maintained gardens, streets, open spaces or institutional grounds in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur
\nbut the selection for awards is based solely on submitted nominations. Nearly 20
\nSuggestions were received and eight awards were given for beautiful and
\nneatly kept gardens with a variety of plants, good upkeep and pride in
\ngardening activities. With the awards, the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur aims to generate interest
\npublic beautification of the environment within the town limits and direct attention to those who
\nThey are exemplary and should be an encouragement to others to take action. Important
\nthat residents and businesses are encouraged and rewarded for good practice.
