The Centre for Grief<\/a> and the Municipality of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur
\nhave entered into a three-year partnership agreement which includes, among other things
\nthat the Bereavement Centre gets premises in the new Centre for Quality of Life in St. J\u00f3<\/a> against offering
\non grief counselling for primary schools and the town's institutions
\nat the same time as the service will be available for residents and others in the best location in
\nthe municipality. <\/em><\/p>\n

All
\nActivities at the St. J\u00f3 Centre for Quality of Life are intended to promote improved quality of life and follow
\nin that spirit, warmth and care which the house has always embodied,
\neverything since the Sisters of St. Joseph began their work there almost 100 years ago. To
\nSupporting and educating those who are grieving the loss of a loved one fits well with
\nthese values. A bereavement centre, which is a new, coordinated resource for people who have lost
\nfor the bereaved, was founded by the societies New Dawn, Birta, Lionheart and Gleym

\nGu\u00f0mundsd\u00f3ttir, Chairperson of the Bereavement Centre. <\/em>The centre will focus on that.
\nto help people who have lost loved ones to work through their grief following a bereavement
\nIt is often difficult to find ways of help. Therefore, it is important to provide the bereaved
\nPeople need accountability and more visible resources. <\/p>\n

\npart of the establishment of the Bereavement Centre and to collaborate with the professionals who
\nwill work there<\/em>,\u201c
\nsays R\u00f3sa Gu\u00f0bjartsd\u00f3ttir, Mayor of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, at the signing of an agreement in
\nday.\u201cIt is extremely necessary and good.
\na project to care for bereaved people in a good and targeted manner following a premature
\nbereavement, as the Bereavement Centre will emphasise, not least for children and young people

Health, community and creativity under one roof
\nSt. J\u00f3's Quality of Life Centre <\/strong><\/p>\n

Old
\nthe convent of the Sisters of St. Joseph, which they built and formally consecrated on 5 September 1926, ,
\nhas now, six years after the hospital's closure, been given a new role as a quality of life centre. Fifteen
\nThe operators already have premises in the centre and they offer
\na service aimed at promoting and enhancing the health, well-being and quality of life of residents and
\nfriends of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in one way or another. The Bereavement Centre is one of these
\na party and resides under the auspices of the St. J\u00f3 Centre for Quality of Life with, among others, psychologists,
\ncoaches, voluntary organisations, education centre, yoga and health promotion for older people
\ncitizens, to name but a few. The opening ceremony of the Centre for Grief will be at the St. J\u00f3 Centre for Quality of Life on Thursday the 12th.
