This is a two-year collaborative project between three nations, i.e.a.s.<br \/>\nof Iceland, Lithuania and Hungary entitled \u201eCommunication is the<br \/>\n\u201cpath to integration\u201e or \u201cCommunication is the path to integration\".<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Emphasis<br \/>\non the use of unconventional communication<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The training centre has had<br \/>\nThe activities of the year 1991 have emphasised strengthening service users with<br \/>\nlong-term support needs in the use of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). In most<br \/>\nIn some cases, they have used the Bliss language since childhood, which consists of<br \/>\nabout 5,000 symbols used for communication. They are used as pictograms on a board and\/or in<br \/>\nlaptops and tablets which are often controlled, for example, with an eye-gaze device or<br \/>\nheadset, it depends on the user's mobility. The first part of this Erasmus +<br \/>\na project took place in Lithuania last May, where the three nations met in<br \/>\nweekly period; four from Iceland, three from Lithuania and three from Hungary. There<br \/>\nVarious interesting service options were presented.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>The group<br \/>\nVisited Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur last week<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The second part of the collaborative project was held<br \/>\nin the past week, here in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and in particular at the Training Centre. There<br \/>\nThe group was introduced to the communication training, the Snoezelen philosophy,<br \/>\nIntensive Interaction and Guided Support (GTI) among others<br \/>\non working methods and organisation. The group also received a presentation from Rannveig<br \/>\nEinar's daughter, Head of the Family and Child Services Department at Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Municipality, about<br \/>\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur as a whole and the services of the municipality. Hr\u00f6nn Hilmarsd\u00f3ttir,<br \/>\nThe Head of the Disability Services Department presented the council's services to<br \/>\ndisabled people. In addition, the groups were invited to presentations at various service centres.<br \/>\nof the town as well as elsewhere in the capital region. Third and final part<br \/>\nThe project will take place in Hungary in the spring of 2020 where the group will receive<br \/>\nan introduction to, among other things, the ideology and approaches used in the provision of services to<br \/>\ndisabled people in that country.<\/p>\n<h4>The group's journey to Lithuania<\/h4>\n<p>Here is a video made following the visit to Lithuania in May 2019.
