Not only did the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Badminton Club celebrate its 60th anniversary and gain the sports hall on Strandgata for its operations, but the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Gymnastics Club also celebrated its 90th anniversary and the formal opening of Skessan. The operations of sports clubs have changed significantly in recent years, and the arrival of Skessan is part of meeting an accumulated need for better facilities in an ever-expanding municipality.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Congratulations to Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Gymnastics Club and the residents of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/fh.is\/\">Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Gymnastics Club<\/a>  celebrated its 90th anniversary last Saturday with an open house and a varied programme. The club's departments presented their activities and a new ball sports hall at Kaplakriki, named Skessan, was officially opened. The club was founded on 15 October 1929 when a group of young gymnasts came together and, as the name suggests, gymnastics was the only sport practised at first. A number of sports have been added since then, such as athletics, handball, football and fencing. The club's members, aged 2 to 90, number around 2,000 today, and attendance and interest have increased significantly in recent years. Seniors come to Kaplakriki in the mornings to exercise, and at the same time, school activities are taking place in the building.
