The plan is to move back to Hafnarfjörður sooner rather than later, and the family has even found the neighbourhood where she wants to live. Guðrún is the interviewee of the week in Vitanum, the City of Hafnarfjörður's podcast.

Listen to the programme

As everyone who knows Guðrún knows, she is a tough cookie and unafraid to take on difficult tasks. She started working at the age of 10 in her father's fishing business, is a great advocate for equality, and fought hard to get to sea. Guðrún is a qualified nursery school teacher and holds a Master's degree in Human Resource Management. She was involved in running a private nursery school for a time, in the spirit of the Hjallastefnan philosophy. She has extensive experience in human resources, including with Reykjanesbær, Isavia, and now with Hafnarfjarðarbær. She received her baptism of fire in HR at Reykjanesbær, where she navigated several economic downturns with the accompanying challenges to the town's employment sector. She then tackled the growth at Isavia and a massive increase in staff.

The City of Hafnarfjörður is fortunate to have Guðrún and her experience working for the city.
