{"id":14082,"date":"2019-12-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-20T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hafnarfjordur.is\/med-puttana-a-skolapulsinum\/"},"modified":"2022-10-25T09:02:31","modified_gmt":"2022-10-25T09:02:31","slug":"with-fingers-on-the-school-bus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hafnarfjordur.is\/en\/med-puttana-a-skolapulsinum\/","title":{"rendered":"Fingers on the School Pulse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Increased satisfaction in primary school work<br \/>\nof the town<br \/><\/strong><em>The schools' improvement projects<br \/>\nare delivering visible and positive results<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The results of the School Pulse were presented at a meeting of the Education Committee.<br \/>\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur this week, and they are considered particularly pleasing for the local primary school community.<br \/>\nThe purpose of the School Pulse and School Wagon, a special report by the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<br \/>\npublishes the results, is to assess the situation and provide individual schools with,<br \/>\nand for the municipality as a whole, opportunities to find opportunities, challenges and<br \/>\nAreas for school development, along with mapping what is being done well.<br \/>\nand\/or could be improved. The findings have been used to shape<br \/>\nImprovement projects, both within individual schools and projects concerning changes<br \/>\nOverall, and including an improved working environment for staff and students. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Great and positive<br \/>\nchanges <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There has been a significant increase in satisfaction with the food service in primary schools.<br \/>\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur from the parents' perspective. At the same time as student enrolment<br \/>\nin food, have increased, and are still increasing, then the service seems to have taken a great<br \/>\npositive changes in the 2018-2019 school year compared to the previous measurement, and satisfaction<br \/>\nmuch higher than the national average in the School Survey. Likewise, parents are satisfied.<br \/>\nwith the work of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's primary schools on bullying, and the town is behind it.<br \/>\nnational average or sixth place among the participating municipalities<br \/>\nin Sk\u00f3lavogurinn. <em>\u201eIt is extremely pleasing<br \/>\nto see in black and white that the improvement projects being implemented by the education council and the municipal staff, within schools and support services, are having an impact<br \/>\nis directly reflected back to students, parents and staff in the form of increased satisfaction<br \/>\nwith the working environment and service, and the most satisfying thing of all is trust.<br \/>\nof students' own ability and activity. When the going gets tough<br \/>\nWhen it comes down to it, it's their well-being that matters most and that everyone<br \/>\nthat a student is growing, maturing and strengthening at their own pace. That alone bodes well.<br \/>\nand is important food for the work now taking place to shape a new<br \/>\nan education policy for the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur which will be unveiled next spring\u201c <\/em>says<br \/>\nFanney D. Halld\u00f3rsd\u00f3ttir, Director of the Education and Public Health Directorate<br \/>\nof the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. <em>  <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Students are happy with<br \/>\ntheir effectiveness and have faith in their own ability<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the results of the School Pulse, pupils in 6th\u2013<br \/>\nPositively evaluates their own performance in Year 10 and their performance extends to their resilience in learning, belief in<br \/>\ntheir own ability and work methods and interest in mathematics. The Municipality of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is here among those<br \/>\n25% top among participating municipalities, or 5th place out of 33 municipalities. Results<br \/>\nindividual schools are performing differently across subject areas and reflect that<br \/>\nto a large extent the focus and culture of individual schools and the influence of staff<br \/>\nThe school atmosphere in interaction with the pupils. <\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/hafnarfjordur.is\/en\/media\/fraedsluthjonusta\/skolavogin2018-2019_grunnskolarhfj_lok-1-.pdf\/\">The School Bus 2018-2019 report can be found here.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p><strong>About Sk\u00f3lap\u00fals and<br \/>\nSchool bus<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The School Pulse measures students' attitudes towards school life in<br \/>\nprimary schools annually and parents and staff in primary schools every other year. City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<br \/>\nhas been a participant in the School Pulse for six years so that all schools<br \/>\nof the town are participants in the same surveys at the same time, and thus a certain<br \/>\nstory and comparison between years and periods. After the results from Sk\u00f3lap\u00falsinn<br \/>\nWhen available, the municipality publishes a report, Sk\u00f3lavogin, on the results for<br \/>\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. This report is part of the municipality's legal duty to<br \/>\nto carry out an external evaluation of the council's school provision in accordance with the Basic Education Act<br \/>\nNo. 91\/2008.
