For the past thirteen years, the school community at \u00c1sland School has supported the Mother's Pension Committee of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur with donations for Christmas. \u00c1sta Eyj\u00f3lfsd\u00f3ttir, the committee's chairwoman, attended a Christmas party at \u00c1sland School on Friday, 20th December, and accepted the donation from the head teacher, Leifur S. Gar\u00f0arsson.<\/p>\n\"Leifur\n

This year, 239,125 kr\u00f3nur were collected, which of course went to the committee unaltered. Over thirteen years, the school community at \u00c1sland has therefore supported the Mother's Pension Committee with a total of 3,124,532 kr\u00f3nur. This thoughtfulness of the pupils, parents and staff of \u00c1slandsk\u00f3li towards those less fortunate is linked to one of the school's four cornerstones, service to the community. More schools in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur have followed the school's example and now support the Mother's Pension Fund instead of holding tuck boxes.<\/p>\n
