Special emphasis on theatre activities for young people and young audiences<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur municipality and The Fork Theatre<\/a> have entered into a three-year rolling agreement for the operation of a professional theatre in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, with the aim of enhancing the cultural life of the town and fostering the interest of its residents in the performing arts and other art forms connected with the stage.<\/p>\n

The plays of the Gaflar Theatre have attracted well-deserved attention.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Fork Theatre<\/a> takes on the responsibility of maintaining a diverse range of theatrical activities on behalf of the theatre company and organising regular performances, and is also authorised to seek collaboration with amateur and professional theatre companies. The Gaflar Theatre places a special emphasis on theatre activities for young people and young audiences in its work. Since its inception, the theatre has placed great emphasis on teaching theatre to children and young people, in collaboration with the primary schools of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and through its own independent courses.about.<\/p>\n

The Fork Theatre<\/a> was established in 2010 and is based on V\u00edkingastr\u00e6ti in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. The contribution from the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is a direct grant. In recent years, the Gaflar Theatre has staged a number of new Icelandic plays which have received well-deserved attention, causing young audiences to flock to the Gaflar Theatre by the thousands. In addition, dance groups, foreign theatre companies and school plays have been brought into the house with numerous performances.<\/p>\n
