Böddi, as he is commonly known, is clearly in the right job as director. Service centres. He is service-minded to his fingertips, is trained in horticulture and has put his training to good use in his job.

Böddi is a lifelong resident of Kópavogur and a staunch supporter of Breiðablik. In his case, it's probably a good thing he doesn't live in Hafnarfjörður, as he'd barely get out of work; the projects in maintenance and service are, after all, practically endless. The Service Centre receives a lot of feedback on how things can be improved, and the 19 staff members do their best to resolve them every day. In 30 years, many interesting things have happened in his job, and in this interview, Böddi shares some amusing stories about his interactions with residents, the mayor, and colleagues. Sometimes the service centre staff get told off, and some incidents are more amusing than others, as Böddi so entertainingly describes regarding a resident's complaint about lawn mowing in Hvammarnir. The busiest time of the year is probably in January when all weathers are to be expected, and the summer period is also very busy when 800 to 1,000 people join the staff through the Work Experience Programme.

The service centre has contributed to supporting community projects, and in the interview, a very good project is mentioned, which is called Onwards , and is about helping people who have fallen out of the labour market, who sometimes have a broken history and need support to get back into it. The interview also discussed how smart technology is set to change various tasks in citizen services, and exciting future projects. Many other topics were also raised, as the service centre's dynamic team has plenty on its plate.

Listen to the programme

Interviews with interesting individuals who work for the municipality.

In Vitanum, interesting individuals who work for the benefit of the town are interviewed.
