In February this year, two years have passed since
because a pilot project on health promotion for older citizens began. About 160
Participants signed up for health promotion at the beginning of 2018 and recently completed
115 participants aged 65-92 in a two-year health promotion programme with
formal graduation with excellent results. The group can soon with the new
An app that tracks its own training through workout plans, and monitors
their progress and keep track of daily exercise. The first measurement was carried out before participation in the project and
the fifth and final one after a two-year health promotion. In particular, it should be noted that
Participants' blood pressure has lowered over the period, strength and motor skills
increases, capacity is propelled forward, in addition to participants' assessment of their own health and
Welfare has strengthened considerably. The project has been accompanied by regular educational seminars.
with a focus on nutrition and various health-related aspects such as mindfulness, medication use
in connection with training and education about balance and exercises for
Balance training.

Direct impact on daily life and potential settlement to
in the long run

Main achievements on several key indicators
include, among others, that daily physical activity has increased by almost 80% and
Participants are now walking for about 15 minutes longer each day. They have therefore increased
their strength training for 425%. Participants have attended on average 2.1 times in
strength training per week, but very few did strength training before they
participated in the project. Upper blood pressure limits have fallen from 149 to 138 mmHg
which is a reduction of 7.41 TP3T. That must be considered a good result. Lower blood pressure limit
were comparable between measurements, decreasing from 82 mmHg to 81 mmHg. Grip strength
Both men's and women's increased during the period, in women by 10.5% and in men by 11.9%
which is very interesting as strength usually weakens with increasing age if
Training is not provided. Leg strength, for standing up from a chair, increased by
43% over the period. Participants' subjective assessment of their own health increased over the period by
20.6%, which is a very interesting result given the increasing age of the participants. That
is extremely interesting and can be inferred, in light of the above.
the conclusion that the individuals concerned are able to carry out activities of daily living
longer, remained longer in independent living and prevented premature
admission to a residential and nursing home. This development in improved health and well-being
The elderly are likely to have a very positive impact on the state's finances.
and of local authorities in the coming years, work will continue to be carried forward purposefully on health-related
prevention for this age group.

Dagleg hreyfing jókst um 80% Styrktarþjálfun jókst um 425% Efri mörk blóðþrýstings lækkuðu um 7,4%.
