The R\/V \u00c1rni Fri\u00f0riksson, RE 200, one of the research vessels of the Institute of Marine Research, was sailed to the High Bank at Fornub\u00fa\u00f0ir the other day. This was a trial of berthing at the harbour bank, before the Institute of Marine Research's full operations begin this spring.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The weather was exceptionally fine when \u00c1rni Fri\u00f0riksson docked. The research vessel is 20 years old, a nearly 70-metre-long steel ship with a gross tonnage of 670 and 6000 horsepower. It is anticipated that two such vessels can be at the dock at the same time. As can be seen in the accompanying photos taken by Olga Bj\u00f6rt \u00de\u00f3r\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir, the operation was a success, but from the experienced crew members, it could be heard that a few more berths could certainly be added.<\/p>\n

The local newspaper Hafnfir\u00f0ingur took the accompanying photos and published this news story on its website.<\/a> <\/p>\n
