It is important that all concerned keep a close eye on news regarding the planned strike. All council services will remain unaffected if the strike does not go ahead.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

A planned strike by members of the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Staff Association and the BSRB will begin on Monday, 9 March. The planned strike action can be divided into two parts. Firstly, members will walk out on pre-arranged days, namely the 9th and 10th of March, 17th and 18th of March, 24th and 26th of March, and 31st of March and 1st of April. However, members of staff who work in after-school clubs for years 1\u20134 in primary schools, in community activities for children and young people in years 5\u201310, and in leisure activities for children and young people with disabilities at Kletturinn will go on an indefinite strike from Monday, 9 March. If an agreement has not been reached by 15 April, all members of BSRB's affiliated unions working for the state and local authorities will go on an indefinite, all-out strike until an agreement is reached.<\/p>\n

This concerns approximately 660 employees of the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. Most work in the municipality's primary schools, but the strike also affects staff within the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's administration, social activities for senior citizens, social activities and employment for disabled people, staff of the service centre, swimming pools and cultural institutions, and a very small number of staff within Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's nurseries. If a strike occurs, the effects on the municipality's services will be as follows.<\/p>\n

Impact on the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's services on predetermined dates<\/p>\n

  • Customer service <\/strong>\u2013 the service desk and, consequently, Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Town Hall closes<\/li>\n
  • Swimming pools<\/strong> \u2013 all swimming pools in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur close <\/li>\n
  • Port city <\/strong>\u2013 Showrooms will be closed but the office will be open <\/li>\n
  • Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Library<\/strong> \u2013 open from 10 am to 5 pm, subject to reduced services and potential opening hours changes, which will be advertised.<\/li>\n
  • Administration at Strandgata, Linnetst\u00edg and Nor\u00f0urh\u00e6ll<\/strong> \u2013 Staff across the public sector are going on strike on these particular days, and therefore services will be partially restricted.<\/li>\n
  • Pre-schools<\/strong> \u2013 Reduced service in five nurseries. The strike affects some staff at the nurseries \u2013 where this is the case, children will be sent home and parents will be notified. No charge will be made for services cancelled due to the strike.<\/li>\n
  • Primary schools \u2013 conventional schooling. <\/strong>Pupils in the primary schools of the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur will attend lessons for at least the first two periods of the day on Mondays and Tuesdays. Further arrangements and the impact on school activities will be communicated separately to each school.<\/li>\n
  • Primary schools \u2013 social activities. <\/strong>Social activities for students in Years 5-10 are cancelled. <\/li>\n
  • Leisure driving<\/strong>  \u2013 cancelled <\/li>\n
  • Social activities for senior citizens \u2013 <\/strong>Closed and no activities at Hraunsel, Hjallabraut and S\u00f3lvangsveg.<\/li>\n
  • Friendship shelter \u2013<\/strong> Closed and no activity<\/li>\n
  • Wasps \u2013<\/strong> Closed and no activity<\/li>\n
  • Stream \u2013<\/strong> Closed and no activity<\/li>\n
  • Short-term stay at Hnotubergi \u2013<\/strong> Closed and no activity<\/li>\n
  • The B\u00e6jarhrauni training centre \u2013<\/strong> Closed and no activity<\/li>\n
  • Development and Computer Department<\/strong>\u2013 Reduced services for schools and institutions in the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Impact on the services of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Municipality indefinitely from 9 March <\/p>\n

    • Primary schools \u2013 after-school activities. <\/strong>All before and after-school leisure services for pupils in Years 1\u20134 are suspended indefinitely. No charge will be made for the suspended service.<\/li>\n
    • Kletturinn \u2013 leisure activities for children and young people with disabilities. <\/strong>All activities at the leisure club Klettinum are cancelled.<\/li>\n
    • The Youth Centre The Hammer <\/strong>All club activities are cancelled indefinitely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
