Winter registration for children\u2018s
\nleisure centres 2020-2021 starts may 7 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Registration
\nis done electronically through the site:
\n\u201cM\u00ednar s\u00ed\u00f0ur\u201d (My pages) at www.hafnarfjordur.is<\/a> under the heading: Ums\u00f3knir \u2013 fr\u00edstundaheimili (applications \u2013 children’s leisure centres)<\/a> . Applications
\nreceived prior to 15 June<\/strong> will be given priority in the admissions
\nprocess, applications received later may be placed on a waiting list and
\nwill not be processed until August.<\/p>\n

When a child is
\noffered placement at a children’s leisure centre the parents will receive an
\ninvitation for placement sent to the email-address that the was provided and
\nthe parents must respond to, and accept this email within three days of
\nreceiving the email. If the email with the offer for placement is not accepted
\nthe placement will not be activated. If this time limit expires you need to
\ncontact the children’s leisure centre in question and get assistance.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

During the
\napplication process it is important that all information is correct and that special
\nneeds are recorded. <\/em><\/strong>It is necessary
\nto check if the information about contact persons is correct and sometimes you
\nwill need to add an additional contact person if the child lives in two homes. <\/em><\/strong>It is important to state if the child is in need of
\nsupport.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Parents will be
\nable to select the number of placement days they are paying for the child, afternoon
\nrefreshments are included in the fee. The rates are shown on the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur
\nwebsite and you pay the rate per one whole day and not per hour, irrespective
\nof whether the child stays until 16:00 (4pm) or 17:00 (5pm) at the leisure
\ncentre.<\/p>\n

About children\u00b4s leisure centres<\/strong><\/p>\n

Children’s
\nleisure centres are intended for children in classes 1-4 and are operated in
\nall elementary schools in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. The purpose of children’s leisure
\ncentres is to offer a variety of after school recreational activities for the
\npupils. The activities are based on optional choices by the pupils, group work,
\nworkshops and outdoor activities. Early afternoon refreshments are also
\nincluded. Rides in a leisure time activities car are offered to children in
\nclasses 1-4 and this car will be driving the children to exercise classes in those
\nclubs that have entered into contracts for leisure time activities rides. The
\nleisure time activities car will at all times have a staff member present who
\nlooks after safety in the car and who makes sure that the children exit the car
\nat the right location. Parents need to register their children specifically for
\nthe leisure time activities car through the registration system \u201cVala\u201d. The
\nobjective of children’s leisure centres is that each child feels comfortable
\nand gets to develop in an environment that is characterised by friendliness,
\nsecurity and respect.<\/p>\n

Terminating or cancelling the contract and amendments<\/strong><\/p>\n

In order to cancel
\nthe contract for the spring semester you must notify the head of department for
\nthe relevant children’s leisure centre prior to 15 December, otherwise the
\napplication will be automatically extended as of and including the month of
\nJune. <\/p>\n

If parents wish
\nto make changes to a current registration prior to the autumn semester<\/strong> it
\ncan be done during the period from 1 September until 15 September<\/strong> and
\nthe changes will take effect on 1 October. Regarding changes to the spring semester<\/strong> it will be possible to make
\nchanges from 1 January until 15 January<\/u><\/strong> and the changes will take
\neffect on 1 February.

\nstated that if for some reason the positions at the children’s leisure time
\nactivities centres have not been fully staffed when the activities commence in
\nthe autumn there may be some delay in the child beginning to attend the
\nrelevant children’s leisure time centre. We remind you that children who are starting school for the
\nfirst time have priority with respect to placement in the children’s leisure
\ncentre if you apply prior to 15 June.<\/strong> Children who need support at the
\nchildren’s leisure centre will receive placement as soon as a support
\nrepresentative has been hired for the relevant child.<\/p>\n

There is a selection of diverse and wholesome
\nplay courses on offer for the graduating groups at the pre-schools \/
\nkindergartens in all children’s leisure centres. The courses are held from 6 until
\n24 August, namely from when the summer closure of the play-schools \/
\nkindergartens ends and until the elementary schools start their formal operations
