250 new and creative jobs
\nSummer 2020<\/em><\/p>\n

The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Town Council agreed at its meeting today to create
\n250 new summer jobs and an increase in the jobs available for people from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.
\nstudents and entrepreneurs this summer. The stately premises of the Learning Centre by the Stream
\nIn Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, an innovation studio will be set up, and the group will get it there.
\nfacilities for innovation and research, as well as having ready access to
\nthe council's experts. The decision is part of the implementation of Covid-19 measures.

80 project proposals

The City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's Covid-19 action plan includes, among other things
\ninnovation by young people and entrepreneurs. When an action plan was adopted on the 1st.
\nLast April, the town's departments were tasked with compiling a list of new and specific
\nprojects where the education and skills of participants can be utilised for innovation and reform in
\nthe town's operations. This includes, among other things, activities and projects in the field of the environment
\nand operational affairs, information technology, education, family affairs, cultural affairs,
\nSports and health-promoting community for which an application has been submitted to
\nStudent Innovation Fund. In total, 80 project proposals were received from the faculties which
\nequivalent to approximately 230 jobs. <\/p>\n

The proposals are mostly about challenging and ambitious
\na research project for which university students will be recruited to work on
\nsummer, but also various initiatives related to, for example, increased digital services and
\nprojects in the town's open spaces, as well as creative summer jobs to bring the town to life
\nthis summer.<\/p>\n

There has already been a significant increase in applications to
\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's work camps, and that for all age groups. All those who are on
\n14-17 year-olds get work and the latest figures show a significant increase in the 17-year-old group.
\napplicants or at least a doubling. A waiting list has already been established for 18-year-olds and
\nolder and the municipal council's decision from today will, among other things, take those tasks into account.<\/p>\n
