With this agreement, the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur takes a major step forward in its services for legally blind residents of the town.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blind.is\/is\/thjonusta\/ferdathjonusta\">The Blind Society's Travel Service<\/a> is a service provision that uses taxis to ensure a high standard of service, while also providing a cost-effective and efficient solution for the local authority. Agreements are made with local authorities, in accordance with the current legislation on services for disabled people with long-term support needs, are responsible for ensuring that disabled people have access to the necessary support services for their inclusion in society on an equal basis with others, thereby preventing their social isolation. The service area of the transport service is Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, Gar\u00f0ab\u00e6r, K\u00f3pavogur, Reykjav\u00edk, Seltjarnarnes and Mosfellsb\u00e6r.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications for travel services and registration of journeys<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>New applicants apply for access to the Blind Association's travel service to the Family and Children's Services Department of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur via <a href=\"https:\/\/innskraning.island.is\/?id=ibuagatt.hafnarfjordur.is\">My pages<\/a> \u00e1 <a href=\"\/en\/\">www.hafnarfjordur.is<\/a> which deals with the application in accordance with the applicable regulations on travel services for disabled persons<br \/>\nof people. A journey is defined in these rules as travel from A to B within<br \/>\nservice area. The Blind Association proposes electronic maps for each user to<br \/>\nfor use in the taxis that drivers use to log each journey.
