A year later, on 1 June 1909, the town had a population of 1,469, with 109 children enrolled in its primary school. Today, around 30,000 residents live in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, and the total number of pupils in the municipality's nursery and primary schools has reached nearly 6,000.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Let's enjoy Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur on its birthday and every other day!&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<p>The birthday falls on a public holiday. Today is the perfect opportunity to enjoy all or some of what your town, Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, has to offer: the great outdoors, exercise, culture, shopping and dining. <a href=\"http:\/\/museum.hafnarfjordur.is\/\">Summer opening begins at all museums of the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Museum of Local History.<\/a> From today, we are opening two new exhibitions.
