This week, the work on the restoration and reconstruction of the Kr\u00fdsuv\u00edk Church was completed.
\ncelebrated at a ceremony at the Technical College at Flatahrauni in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, but in addition
\nThe project has been supported by the Friends of Kr\u00fdsuv\u00edk Church and the National Museum. The Church
\nburned down in 2010 and was then owned by the National Museum, which had received the church along with
\ncemetery, other structures belonging to the site and the surrounding plot of land
\nthe church was donated by the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur town council in 1964. The church will be moved
\nto its base in Kr\u00fdsuv\u00edk later this summer. <\/p>\n
The Friends of Kr\u00fdsuv\u00edk Church was founded immediately after the fire.
\nand gave the National Museum the insurance compensation to the association to cover the cost of materials for
\nthe reconstruction. An agreement was made with the Technical College for its students and teachers to give
\na labour contribution to the reconstruction of the church and the project has been used to provide
\nInsight into and training in the application of the working methods commonly used in construction.
