Time is running out to submit nominations for the 2020 Tidy-Up Competition.\u00a0 At the beginning of the summer, the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur advertised for nominations from residents and other interested parties for awards for beautiful and well-maintained gardens, streets, open spaces or institutional grounds in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. The selection for the awards is based solely on the nominations submitted.<\/p>\n
In mid-summer, the programme Garden Stroll in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur premiered on the television channel N4. In the programme, we got to see three beautiful private gardens in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur as well as Hellisger\u00f0i, our public park. All three of these gardens have received an award for their tidiness. The town's environmental and resource policy was also covered, with interviews conducted with R\u00f3sa Gu\u00f0bjartsd\u00f3ttir, the Mayor, and Helga Ing\u00f3lfsd\u00f3ttir, Chair of the Environment and Operations Committee.<\/p>\n
Watching the garden tour in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<\/a><\/strong> <\/p>\n These awards are intended to set a certain standard in this area, in both residential and commercial areas. Through this, the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur aims to raise public interest in the beautification of the local environment by drawing attention to those who serve as role models in environmental matters in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and should thus inspire others to take action.<\/p>\n It is very important that residents and businesses are encouraged and rewarded for good stewardship and a tidy environment.
