Formal education for pupils in the primary schools of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur
\nstarts on Tuesday, 25 August. Around 4,300 children from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur will be starting school this
\nin the autumn, of which about 4,000 are in the primary school of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, and of those, nearly 400
\nchildren starting Year 1. Eleven primary schools are operating in the town, nine of
\nthe municipality, but in addition, there are the Hjalli School of the Hjalli Method and Nu \u2013 Forward-thinking
\nEducation: independently run primary schools in the town.<\/p>\n

The change will take place in the autumn of 2020, when Engidalssk\u00f3li takes over.
\nwill reopen as an independent primary school after a 10-year hiatus. Pupils will be there in
\nYears 1-6 this winter, and then up to Year 7 from autumn 2021. The new head teacher of Engidal School is Margr\u00e9t Halld\u00f3rsd\u00f3ttir.<\/a> <\/p>\n

In the primary schools of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, all pupils are offered
\nPorridge for teaching staff, parents\/guardians free of charge. In addition
\nFruit is offered in the morning as part of a subscription for all primary school pupils.
\nOrders for the fruit and lunch subscription are placed via the Sk\u00f3lamatar website.

Pupils
\nofficially return to primary schools in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur on 25 August. Some
\n4,300 children from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur are going back to school this autumn. Around
\n4,000 of these will be attending primary schools in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, with around
\n400 starting in Grade 1. There are eleven primary schools operating in
\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, nine run by the municipal authorities, plus two independent
\nSchools: Hjalli's Primary School and NU \u2013 Forward-Looking Education. <\/p>\n

Autumn 2020
\nalso sees the return of Engidalssk\u00f3li as an independent primary school, after
\nhaving been closed for 10 years. Engidalssk\u00f3li will receive pupils in
\nGrades 1-6 this autumn, adding Grade 7 in autumn 2021. The new

\nusual class timetable. However, schools will also be focusing more on infection
\nPreventive measures and cleaning. Greater emphasis will be placed on hygiene.
