The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur municipal staff golf tournament was held in fine weather recently. Nearly 60 employees from various council departments signed up to play and gave it their all. It was a traditional stableford competition with handicap and a stroke play final for the golf champion. Nearest the pin prizes were awarded on the 4th, 6th, 10th and 16th holes of Hvaleyrarv\u00f6llur, and on the 6th hole of Sveinskotsv\u00f6llur. <\/p>\n

For beginners as well as more advanced learners<\/h4>\n

Competitions were held on both the 18-hole and 9-hole courses, and beginners as well as keen fans of the sport were encouraged to take part. It was planned to offer beginners' coaching sessions during the tournament, but in light of the social distancing and lockdown restrictions, both the coaching and the format of the prize-giving had to be cancelled.<\/p>\n

        Nearness prizes were awarded on the par-3 holes at Hvaleyrarvellir.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

          It's safe to say that anticipation for the 2021 staff golf tournament is already building, and we've heard that even more people are planning to take part. The sport of golf is truly on the rise, and it certainly helps that Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is home to one of the country's finest golf courses.<\/p>\n
