There will be minor changes to the restrictions currently in force, in line with the recommendations made by the Director of Public Health to the Minister of Health in the attached memorandum. The changes that will be made are detailed below. The matter was presented at a Cabinet meeting today.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stjornarradid.is\/efst-a-baugi\/frettir\/stok-frett\/2020\/08\/25\/Ny-auglysing-um-takmorkun-a-samkomum-vegna-farsottar\/\">See the news on the Stj\u00f3rnarr\u00e1\u00f0i\u00f0 website.&nbsp;<\/a> <\/p>\n<h4>Advertisement does not apply to school activities&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<p>The notice does not cover school activities as the current notice does, but rather, restrictions on school operations are dealt with separately in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stjornartidindi.is\/Advert.aspx?RecordID=611e72ee-1ee1-4d4f-a09a-1e59feef3363\">a notice which came into force on 21 August last.<\/a> and is valid until 29 September. That announcement is also in line with the recommendation of the Chief Medical Officer for Public Health and was prepared in consultation with the Ministry of Education and Culture. The aim of that announcement is to minimise disruption to school activities due to COVID-19, whilst ensuring that public health considerations are taken into account.<\/p>\n<h4>Key changes with the new advertisement:<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The 2-metre rule: <\/strong>The provision on general distancing is amended. Where it currently provides that operators must ensure that a distance of at least 2 metres can be maintained between individuals who do not share a household, the provision will be amended to require that a distance of at least 2 metres is ensured between individuals who are not in close contact. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Sports:<\/strong> According to the new announcement, sports will generally be permitted. Those sports not affiliated with the ISI (Icelandic Sports and Olympic Association) should draw up their own guidelines or follow the same guidelines as comparable sports within the ISI.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Performing arts, music and filming:<\/strong> Contact will be permitted in performing arts and music training in the same way as in sports. The same applies to filming.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gyms:<\/strong> Restrictions due to the specific risk of infection will be the same for gyms and for swimming and bathing facilities.
