The Board of the Fri\u00f0rik Bjarnason and Gu\u00f0laug P\u00e9tursd\u00f3ttir Fund is inviting applications for grants. The purpose of the fund is to promote the musical life of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and to support students from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur for postgraduate study in music, and music scholars.<\/p>\n

The application deadline is 1 November 2020. Applications are made on My pages on hafnarfjordur.is<\/a>.The applicant shall provide a detailed description of their studies or proposed project.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a will from 1960, the couple Fri\u00f0rik Bjarnason and Gu\u00f0laug P\u00e9tursd\u00f3ttir bequeathed a large part of their assets to the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and stipulated that books and items should be preserved in the library and that a fund should be established to \u201eto promote musical life in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in whatever way is considered best at the time, with particular emphasis on promoting choral singing in the town\u201c, and \u201eto support students of music and music scholars\u201c. The awards are presented on Fridrik's birthday, 27 November, which marks 140 years since his birth.<\/p>\n
