Now that everyone in the country is facing new challenges related to coronavirus, it is important to pay close attention to these factors. The advice takes into account the specific circumstances currently prevailing in society.<\/p>\n<p>The maxims have also been translated into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlaeknir.is\/servlet\/file\/store93\/item40632\/Heilraedi_allt_enska_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">English <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlaeknir.is\/servlet\/file\/store93\/item40633\/Heilraedi_allt_polska_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Polish<\/a>. The Office of the Chief Medical Officer has been publishing these tips in various ways on social media recently, in collaboration with R\u00daV.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlaeknir.is\/um-embaettid\/frettir\/frett\/item40638\/Hluum-vel-ad-okkur-sjalfum-og-okkar-nanustu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Let's take good care of ourselves and our loved ones.<\/a><br \/><\/strong>Let's take good care of ourselves and find constructive ways to deal with the challenges we face. Spend time with our loved ones and have some quality time together. Play games, go for a walk, play in the garden, do arts and crafts, read and laugh together. Create memories. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/RUVohf\/videos\/167259331010180\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RUV video<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlaeknir.is\/um-embaettid\/frettir\/frett\/item40644\/verum-thakklat-fyrir-thad-sem-vid-hofum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Let's be thankful for what we have<\/a><br \/><\/strong>Let's pay attention to the good things in our lives and be grateful for what we are given. It's a good idea to think of three things to be thankful for each day, for example, at the dinner table or before going to sleep. What we think about affects how we feel. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/RUVohf\/videos\/3045314292186791\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RUV video<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlaeknir.is\/um-embaettid\/frettir\/frett\/item40921\/bordum-hollan-og-godan-mat-daglega\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Let's eat healthy and good food every day.<\/a><br \/><\/strong>It is important to eat a healthy and varied diet. Choose foods that are naturally rich in nutrients, such as fruit, vegetables, whole grains and fish, and remember to take vitamin D. It is best to eat at regular times and enjoy your food. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/RUVohf\/videos\/528998377672563\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RUV video<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlaeknir.is\/um-embaettid\/frettir\/frett\/item40928\/hreyfum-okkur-rosklega-a-hverjum-degi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Let's get moving briskly every day.<\/a><br \/><\/strong>Physical activity is important for mental and physical well-being, better sleep and increased stamina. Let's be active every day, for at least 30 minutes for adults and at least 60 minutes for children. Some physical activity is better than none, and it is important to limit prolonged periods of sitting. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/RUVohf\/videos\/250083142794062\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RUV video<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlaeknir.is\/um-embaettid\/frettir\/frett\/item40940\/studlum-ad-betri-svefni-med-godum-svefnvenjum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Promote better sleep with good sleep habits<\/a><br \/><\/strong>A good night's sleep is essential for being able to tackle the day's challenges. Sleep has positive effects on the immune system, concentration, and learning ability, among other things, and is essential for the growth and development of children. Let's establish good sleep habits to get the recommended amount of sleep for our age.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlaeknir.is\/um-embaettid\/frettir\/frett\/item40947\/fordumst-ad-nota-afengi-eda-tobak-sem-bjargrad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Avoid using alcohol or tobacco as a coping mechanism.<\/a><br \/><\/strong>It is not helpful to use alcohol or tobacco to cope with difficult emotions, such as worry and anxiety, or to relax. Alcohol consumption and smoking weaken the immune system and also have negative effects on health and well-being in the long term.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlaeknir.is\/um-embaettid\/frettir\/frett\/item41075\/synum-samfelagslega-abyrgd-og-fylgjum-fyrirmaelum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Let's show social responsibility and follow the instructions.<\/a><br \/><\/strong>Let's be responsible in our behaviour and follow public health guidance to protect the people around us and the healthcare system. Let's also avoid unnecessary worry, as it can have a negative impact on our quality of life and our sense of security.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlaeknir.is\/um-embaettid\/frettir\/frett\/item41081\/holdum-afram-ad-laera-og-komum-hlutum-i-verk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Let's keep learning and get things done.<\/a><br \/><\/strong>Let's see the opportunities in these special circumstances and learn something new, or think about the things we haven't managed to get round to doing until now. Now is the time to learn a new language or cook a new dish, read the books waiting on the bedside table, sort through the photo collection or tidy the storeroom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlaeknir.is\/um-embaettid\/frettir\/frett\/item41085\/gefum-af-okkur-synum-godvild-og-samkennd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Let's give of ourselves \u2013 show kindness and compassion.<\/a><br \/><\/strong>Let's do something kind for others. Let's use this time to enjoy the moment and be more present. Let's notice the beauty in the little things around us and in nature with all our senses.
