The Mayor of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the company's managing director met last week to discuss the seriousness of the matter, reviewed a plan of action and are all united in finding a successful solution that both minimises odour pollution and ensures the continued successful operation of the company, which has operated in harmony with the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur community for over 30 years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All comments and information regarding the odour should be sent directly to Hla\u00f0b\u00e6 Colas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Residents and staff in the area are kindly asked to send information about the day and time to <a href=\"mailto:harpa@colas.is\">harpa@colas.is<\/a>. Detailed analysis and targeted measures are underway with the aim of minimising odour pollution. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>This summer, Hla\u00f0b\u00e6r Colas, which had until that point used coke from Venezuela, was forced by the situation there to buy coke of a different origin, and it appears that the current problem and odour pollution lie in the raw material. Hla\u00f0b\u00e6r Colas is calling for detailed information and comments from local residents and staff so that the current stock of bik can be analysed and disposed of without causing odour pollution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Environmental Agency issues operating licences and monitors operations. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It should be noted specifically that neither the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur nor the health authority have any direct involvement in this matter, beyond acting in the interests of all stakeholders and raising complaints and demands for action.
