Fortunately, Covid has not significantly delayed any of the projects, and every effort has been made to keep them on schedule; in fact, the pace has even been increased where possible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hafnfirdingur.is\/stadan-a-morgum-olikum-framkvaemdum-i-baenum\/\">The town newspaper Hafnfir\u00f0ingur<\/a> He\/She\/They familiarised themselves with the status of the main projects within the municipality from Helga Stef\u00e1nsd\u00f3ttir, Director, and Sigur\u00f0ur Haraldsson, Head of Department, at the Environment and Planning Department of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Municipality.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>The doubling of the Reykjanesbraut possibly the most visible project.&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<p>The City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's projects vary in size, and some of them must be put out to tender in the European Economic Area. <em>\u201eWe are working in line with the 2020 budget, with additional funding that was added this spring for the Covid action plan.\u201c <\/em>says Helga. The dualling of the Reykjanesbraut is possibly the most visible project, as many people drive on it and it will have a major impact on transport through the town.<em> \u201eFor example, Covid has not delayed the works, as far fewer tourists are driving there than usual, which means less traffic and fewer delays. Many residents are also pleased with the noise barriers that have been installed along the runway.\u201c<\/em> Helga and Sigur\u00f0ur agree that the townspeople have shown great patience with the works in the town, and they wish to express their special gratitude for this.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>The main projects for the year are as follows:<\/p>\n<\/h4>\n<p><strong>\u00c1svallabraut: <\/strong>A new road is being built over \u00c1sfjall, which will connect Velli and Kald\u00e1rselsveg. Roadworks and the laying of services are underway. The project is scheduled for completion on 1 October 2021.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"videolink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2FV23ocN5uY\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2FV23ocN5uY<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Reykjanesbraut:<\/strong> The dualling of the road between Kald\u00e1rselvegur and Kr\u00fdsuv\u00edkurvegur is nearing completion, along with improvements to pedestrian crossings over the carriageway. Photo\/Gu\u00f0mundur Fylkisson.<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Field Marshal: <\/strong>The Vallar\u00e6si, part of the town's sewerage system, will take sewage from part of the Vallahverfi district, as well as Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0, Hamranes, and parts of the \u00c1sland and Vatnshl\u00ed\u00f0 districts. The estimated completion date is 30 October 2021. Blasting and scaling can be expected to continue into the winter, with earthworks completed by spring and surfacing works next summer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/hafnarfjordur.is\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/fr4.jpg\" alt=\"Thursday\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1024px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1024\/722;\"><sup>Overview of the works at Vallar\u00e6si.<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>North Bank: <\/strong>A precursor to further development and final works on the North Shore. In the first of four phases in the autumn of 2020, rock armour will be installed on the bank. The work also includes paving the area outside and repairing the entrance from Su\u00f0urgata. A fire escape will also be installed on the south side of the building. The contractor is finishing their work, as this is the final stage of the school's construction. The total area is 9,000 square metres. Photo\/submitted<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Residential units<\/strong>A new residential unit for six individuals is being built at \u00d6ldugata, and at the same time, the residential unit at Einiberg, where individuals are in room-based accommodation, is being closed. Completion is scheduled for May 2021.
