Looking to the future with ideas about
\nmodern library<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Town Council considered ideas at its meeting today.
\nto move the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Library from its current premises at Strandgata 1 to new premises
\nPremises at 26-30 Strandgata. There is a desire to make it binding.
\nan agreement between 220 Fjar\u00f0ar and the Municipality of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur based on the ideas of \"220
\nFjar\u00f0ar, to erect up to 6,000 m2<\/sup> New building on a plot at Strandgata
\n26-30 relating to the older Fjar\u00f0ar premises at 13-15 Fjar\u00f0argata. If it goes ahead,
\nIt is expected that construction will begin in the period 2021-2023 and that delivery on
\nHousing for the town to purchase or rent will be available during the period 2023-2026. <\/p>\n

Changed role
\nLibraries \u2013 design with users' needs in mind <\/strong><\/p>\n

It has been on the cards for some time to review and
\nto convert the premises of the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Library, as the current premises is considered neither well-planned
\nnor designed with the needs of users in mind. The building is on 4 floors and 7 platforms.
\nand too much space that is of limited use to the museum's users. Thus, a multipurpose hall is considered
\ne.g. too small for all the possible activities that could take place there. Annually
\nBetween 115,000 and 125,000 people visit the library, of all ages.
\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur residents have big dreams for their town library, according to a survey.
\nA survey was carried out this summer. It revealed wishes for a caf\u00e9, a playground, and convenient
\nbranches and longer opening hours, as well as a wider range of services. New premises at
\na single storey would offer great potential to serve guests and passers-by on all
\nA larger and more open multi-purpose hall would be of great benefit to both.
