L\u00e6kur is a sanctuary for individuals with mental health issues.<\/a> .
\nThe shelter recently moved to Sta\u00f0arberg 6 and the facilities are now most splendid.
\nOne of L\u00e6k's main roles is to be a safe and good platform for people with
\nwith the aim of reducing social isolation and promoting interaction with others
\nand to strengthen mental and physical health, where everyone can enjoy themselves. At L\u00e6k is
\nbreakfast, lunch and coffee are served for a small charge. On-site there is
\nalso laundry and bathing facilities.<\/p>\n

Entertainment and education
\non an equal footing<\/strong><\/p>\n

L\u00e6kur is not a conventional treatment centre or institution, but
\na venue where the emphasis is on creating a homely atmosphere
\non an equal footing. Various types of entertainment and education are offered on a daily basis.
\nthe work of the refuge and the undertone is movement, relaxation, communication, togetherness and
\ngambling. Guests themselves have a great influence on shaping the programme and thus have
\ne.g. courses in soap making, cosmetics making, and fudge making have been offered,
\ncooking, jewellery making, visual arts and pottery. In the new year, it is planned to set up
\nto cultivate a vegetable garden and look after four hens in the back garden
\nguests. Emphasis will be placed on further increasing the diversity in
\nthe activities, as there is a strong desire for everyone to be able to find something interesting
\nto its advantage, with creativity and design as its guiding principles. Also on offer will be
\nuser-led groups for individuals with anxiety and\/or a diagnosis of schizophrenia. <\/p>\n

\nWorking for her are Valur P\u00e1ll Viborg, Gu\u00f0bj\u00f6rg \u00de\u00f3r\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir and S\u00f3lveig
\nBaldrsdottir. The seat of L\u00e6kjar is at Site 6<\/a> and the telephone number is 585-5770.
\nThe staff welcome all interested parties from 9 am to 3 pm, every weekday.
\ndays except Fridays when it opens at 10 a.m. When crowd restrictions and criteria due to
\nOnce the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, opening hours will again be until 4 p.m. <\/p>\n
