Residents' satisfaction with Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is still quite high by historical standards, according to the annual survey. Gallup service survey presented to the town council.<\/a> this morning, although the score had slightly decreased between 2020 and 2019, satisfaction had increased significantly and substantially in most areas between the 2019 and 2018 measurements.<\/p>\n

Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur remains unchanged in three components of the 2020 measurement and decreases in nine components, of which the decrease is significant in three. Satisfaction with refuse collection services increases year-on-year and has never been higher. The areas that have significantly decreased year-on-year are overall satisfaction with the municipality as a place to live, satisfaction with cultural services, and satisfaction with services for disabled people in the municipality. Of particular note, scores in two of these three areas remain above the average for the country's twenty largest municipalities, despite the decrease, and thus the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur shares m.a. the top spot with three other municipalities when it comes to satisfaction with how the municipality handles cultural affairs. The results provide an indication of resident satisfaction and of the areas of service that would be good to examine in more detail.<\/p>\n

Behind us is a year of varied challenges.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The results of the survey provide an indication of residents' satisfaction with certain municipal services, regardless of whether they use the service or not. 86% are satisfied with Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur as a place to live, 82% are satisfied with the sports facilities in the municipality, and 77% are satisfied with the municipality's nursery school services. Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is on a par with other municipalities in five areas and above average in three areas relating to overall satisfaction with the municipality as a place to live, satisfaction with sports facilities in the municipality, and satisfaction with how the municipality handles cultural matters. <\/p>\n

Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is below average when it comes to services for older people, disabled people, and satisfaction with planning in the municipality in general. It has been a year that has proved more difficult for vulnerable groups than for others, despite all local authorities emphasising an uninterrupted service during the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, more people feel that council staff have handled their enquiries poorly, but only those who had contacted the council offices in the last two years were asked this question, and the number in this group continues to decrease between surveys. What is causing this is difficult to say, but it is possible that an increased emphasis on self-service, with robust and comprehensive information on the website, a greater focus on communication through various channels, and an update to the My Pages section are reducing the direct need for service. What remains are cases and enquiries that are more complex to handle and answer, and therefore take longer. Opportunities for improvement are apparent, and further analytical work is now underway. <\/p>\n

About the Gallup Poll <\/strong><\/p>\n

Gallup conducts an annual service survey among the country's twenty largest municipalities to assess satisfaction with services, make comparisons, and examine changes from previous measurements. Data collection took place from 6 November to 20 December 2020. The sample is a stratified random sample from the Gallup and National Register opinion panel. Data collection continued until a specified number of responses was reached for each municipality. In Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, 426 individuals responded to the survey. The results were published at a meeting of the town council this morning.<\/p>\n
