The health town of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur \u2013 congratulations to Haukar on your big anniversary! <\/strong><\/h4>\n

The health-focused town of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur has for a long time placed a strong emphasis on a wide range of preventative measures, through active collaboration, leisure grants, and health-related projects that enrich and enhance the quality of life and health of its residents. The town has long been a major sporting centre and, for years, has produced champions in almost all areas of sport. Haukar plays a major role here with its professional club activities and a strong support network. Impressive facilities have been built at \u00c1svellir over recent decades and today, on the anniversary itself, Haukar's 90th anniversary is being celebrated today with the first spadeful of a new and magnificent football arena, which will completely transform the facilities for the Haukar football section at \u00c1svellir.  <\/p>\n

Birthday greeting from the Mayor of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<\/h4>\n

Ninety years have now passed since young and energetic lads came together to found a sports club here in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. The club was named Haukar, and its history, development, strength and growth are intertwined with the history of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. Haukar have played their part in establishing Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur as a sports and wellness town and, like other clubs within its boundaries, have produced world-class athletes. The outstanding achievements of Haukar's athletes have brought great renown to the town. Haukar's impressive success over many decades is a testament to the ambition, drive and professionalism that characterise the club's diverse activities. The club also has a strong and valuable support network of volunteers, who have selflessly worked for its benefit over the years. They can never be thanked enough for that. A unique club spirit prevails at \u00c1svellir, and everyone, high and low, is always welcome there.<\/p>\n

The local authorities in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur have always emphasised promoting and strengthening sports activities alongside other development in the town. It is important that there has been a good understanding of the need, but it has also proven that any physical activity, encouraging company and great role models have a significant preventative value. With each passing year, the emphasis is increasing on factors that have a positive impact on the health and quality of life of individuals. This benefits our entire community. Haukaf\u00e9lagar have benefited from the targeted development of the club's sports facilities and the strong support of the town in this regard. Service and operating contracts, as well as leisure grants, have been crucial in increasing the number of participants and building an ambitious programme that is constantly growing and evolving. The construction of a long-awaited sports hall at \u00c1svellir is now set to begin. Its arrival will revolutionise the facilities for playing football. The building will be very welcome and will play a major part in making the town's newest development areas even more desirable places to live. At the same time, new grass pitches are being built in the area to meet the significant demand that has arisen. We welcome these developments and are particularly pleased that they are beginning now, in the club's 90th anniversary year.<\/p>\n

On this milestone occasion, on behalf of the local council in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and its staff, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all Haukar members on this major anniversary, with our sincere thanks for your professional and important contribution to the sporting and community life of the town. Thank you, Haukar, for the collaboration and entertainment over the years, and for your contribution to the upbringing of our young people.<\/p>\n
