Three students from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur competed on behalf of their youth clubs in the Samf\u00e9s singing competition, which was held yesterday and shown on live broadcast on R\u00daV.<\/a> Viktor\u00eda T\u00f3masd\u00f3ttir, a Year 10 pupil at L\u00e6kjarsk\u00f3li, emerged as the winner of this year's competition. She sang the song Seven Nation Army by the band The White Stripes and played the keyboard accompaniment herself. Athena \u00cdsold Birgisd\u00f3ttir from the youth club Veri\u00f0 at Hvaleyrarsk\u00f3li and Jada Birna Long Gu\u00f0nad\u00f3ttir from N\u00fa also performed brilliantly.<\/p>\n

The girls emerged as winners of the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Singing Competition, held in mid-April, and thereby became the representatives of the youth clubs in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur for the Samf\u00e9s Singing Competition. Fourteen students from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur took part in the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Singing Competition this year, which was held in Live stream from B\u00e6jarb\u00ed\u00f3<\/a> <\/strong> where this large group of talented young people stepped forward and excelled.  <\/p>\n

About the Samf\u00e9s Song Contest<\/h4>\n

Samf\u00e9s singing competition <\/a> is one of the events of the SamFesting. The competition has been an important event in the work of Samf\u00e9s ever since it was first held in 1992. The Singing Competition gives young people the opportunity to perform and sing in front of their peers from all over the country, and it is clear that thousands of young people have performed over the years. In the current format, thirty acts advance to the final after preliminary rounds in each region of the country.
