Previous plans for a 100-room hotel at 26-30 Strandgata in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur have evolved into exciting ideas and plans for a supermarket and services on the ground floor, a new, modern library and multimedia centre, and a public park on the 2nd. floor and hotel suites in small houses running along the Strandgata. The revised plans respond to calls from residents, the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, and local businesses for a supermarket in the town centre, green spaces, and a design that promotes a vibrant town centre. The proposals are in good alignment with the report of the working group on the town centre's planning, with a particular focus on ensuring a good mix of retail, service and residential uses. The current detailed plan allows for 6,400 m<sup>2<\/sup> a new 5-storey hotel with retail and service on the ground floor and a 2-storey connecting building between the hotel and the Fjar\u00f0ar shopping centre. New proposals envisage the building mass being moved in towards Fjar\u00f0argata 13-15, and the building creating the street frontage on Strandgata being lowered from 5 storeys to 1-3 storeys with a recessed 4th storey. This is a building plot of 1,750 square metres, and the current approved detailed plan allows for a building volume of 5,980 square metres on the plot.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201eThese ideas for development in the centre of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur are very exciting and will further strengthen it and enhance its unique character. Our town centre has been blossoming and thriving in recent years, and it is important that we, as a local authority, respond to the call of residents and businesses and encourage continued growth by opening up opportunities and possibilities for a diverse range of activities and services, for socialising, entertainment and creativity.
