The first sod was cut today for the works and development at 2 L\u00e6kjargata. Major changes are on the horizon for the site, with the aim of beautifully linking the new development with the existing area. In shaping the new development, an effort has been made to integrate the buildings with the adjacent area on Su\u00f0urgata, L\u00e6kjargata and Brekkugata in terms of scale, form and choice of materials. 2 L\u00e6kjargata is in a desirable residential area and offers views over the stream, the church square and part of the town centre. The site previously housed Dvergsh\u00fasi\u00f0, which was demolished in the summer of 2017.<\/p>\n

Decision on competition made at Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's 100th anniversary as a town. <\/strong><\/h4>\n

At its celebratory meeting in the Good Templar Hall on 1 June 2008, to mark the 100th anniversary of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's town status, the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Town Council resolved that a competition would be held for the detailed planning and development of the Dvergsl\u00f3\u00f0 site, L\u00e6kjargata 2. One of the main objectives of the competition was to restore the area's former character as far as possible. The neighbouring plot is home to G\u00fatt\u00f3, one of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's most famous social venues, which is intertwined with the town's history of over 100 years. The detailed plan therefore provides for its status and prestige to be enhanced.<\/p>\n

Proposal for a new mixed-use development<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In the spring of 2017, the Municipality of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur invited applications to participate in a tender for the building rights on the site. The competition received various proposals, which nevertheless bore a similar character, from four parties. The decision was based on appearance and architecture over cost, and the offer deemed to be the best fit with previous decisions was selected. Winning proposal for a new mixed-use development on Dvergsreit<\/a> Tr\u00edpoli and Krads, in collaboration with Landm\u00f3tun, won the GG work, which is now commencing construction. <\/p>\n

A block of flats with 23 flats and commercial space <\/strong><\/h4>\n

A building permit for Krad ehf., on behalf of the plot holder, was approved at the planning and building officer's meeting on 5th May. This concerns a block of flats comprising one to two storeys, plus a recently added attic storey and a basement, with a total of 23 flats, along with commercial premises.
