As elsewhere, life at the Port of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is gradually returning to normal. The first cruise ships of the summer have begun docking again. Last week the first ship of the summer, Le Dumont-d'Urville from the French shipping company Ponant, arrived in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, marking the first vessel to visit Iceland this year. Fifteen ship arrivals are expected this summer, continuing until mid-September.<\/p>\n
The Ponant ships are home-ported in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur between their week-long cruises around the country. This ship is a new build, of around 10,000 BRT, carries nearly 200 passengers and has a crew of about 130. On this first voyage there were around 150 passengers, but bookings are good for the ship's voyages this summer. All passengers arrive by air from abroad, and passenger changes take place in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur on Wednesdays. The ship normally arrives in port on Tuesday mornings and sets off on a new round trip around the country on Wednesday evenings.<\/p>\n
