Today, a milestone was reached in history. Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Library<\/a> when the first digital library card was issued. This is also the first digital library card in public libraries in the country. The digital card is part of the digital journey of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur municipality and is linked to the cooperation of municipalities in digital development.<\/p>\n

Everyone can upgrade to a digital certificate on their next visit. <\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Library has been working closely with the libraries in K\u00f3pavogur and Gar\u00f0ab\u00e6r in recent years, and they will follow suit and introduce digital library cards of their own in the coming months. The start-up company SmartSolutions developed the solution. Anyone with a plastic library card today can upgrade to a digital one on their next visit to the library. This means no one will have to worry about forgetting their card, provided they have their phone with them. New borrowers can, of course, get a digital card straight away. All content on the website has been completely redesigned from the ground up, and the site is now available in four languages. The new website is another product based on Vitanum, the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's design system, which enables the municipality to accelerate its digital development and carry out such projects more cost-effectively and quickly than before. The website was a collaboration between the museum's staff, the city's web team and students from the University of Iceland's web media course. The design was created by Metall Design Studio, while the programming and implementation were handled by Avista, and the requirements analysis was led by K\u00f3ral.<\/p>\n
