The work is simple and at the same time elegant, designed to create a unique sight, joy and experience for those who visit the outdoor gem of Hvaleyrarvatn and its surroundings. The artwork is located at Sandv\u00edkin, is connected to a street pipe and, until the first frost of the autumn, will spray water and create a rainbow on sunny days. The concept and execution are by the visual artist Gu\u00f0mundur R. L\u00fa\u00f0v\u00edksson.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/hafnarfjordur.is\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/vatnsverkhvaleyrarvatn.jpg\" alt=\"Hvaleyrarvatn Reservoir\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1536px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1536\/2048;\" \/><sup>The Wishing Well has been installed at Hvaleyrarvatn.<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Another reason to visit Hvaleyrarvatn <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gu\u00f0mundur graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 1991, but subsequently undertook postgraduate studies in Germany and the Netherlands. Since 1985, Gu\u00f0mundur has exhibited in all the major museums and galleries in his home country, as well as in the Faroe Islands, Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria, Russia, Germany, Norway, Sweden, England, the United States, Belgium, Bulgaria and Greenland. Gu\u00f0mundur has received much praise and recognition for his work. The artist was awarded a cultural grant from the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in the first allocation of 2021 for his concept for a water feature, which was decided to be installed at Hvaleyrarvatn.
