<\/p>\nThe gymnastics club Bj\u00f6rk celebrated its seventieth anniversary yesterday.
\nThe association was founded on 1 July 1951 in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur with the aim of promoting
\nand to promote the practice of gymnastics to the greatest extent among all age groups. It was in the autumn of 1949 that
\nA group of twenty girls, aged 15 to 17, came together and started practising gymnastics.
\nunder the guidance of sports teacher \u00deorger\u00f0ur M. G\u00edslad\u00f3ttir in the sports hall of the Primary School
\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. It was after two years of training that it was decided to hold a formal
\nA club would be founded for the training sessions. The club was named Bj\u00f6rk Gymnastics Club. <\/p>\n
