The heart of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur shines brightly<\/h4>\n

At the end of May, the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Town Council approved A plan for monitoring and ongoing measures regarding Covid-19 for the summer of 2021<\/a> which includes support for residents and businesses in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and strengthening the town's foundations. The plan includes an increased number of summer jobs, micro-grants, and the promotion of culture and the arts in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur during the summer of 2021, as well as various projects in the town that offer a variety of employment opportunities. All projects that are already visible in the summer of 2021 and will remain so for the rest of the summer. <\/p>\n

A vibrant city centre and a charming Fjord <\/h4>\n

A number of new staff members started with the town this spring and early summer, and life in the town in June and so far in July has been characterised by great joy, fun and creativity. The fantastic teams from the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Work Club have also had the important task of cleaning up, beautifying and keeping the town clean. Nine groups are active in creative summer jobs during the summer of 2021, a strong and large arts group, and micro-grants for the enthusiastic have also spurred a great deal of activity, performances, open-air concerts, indoor concerts and all kinds of artistic creation within the town's boundaries, to name but a few. <\/p>\n

Pavement renewal in older neighbourhoods and maintenance of school playgrounds <\/h4>\n

Examples of projects and maintenance that were specifically decided to be undertaken include the renewal of pavements in the town's older neighbourhoods, the finishing of roads and paths in Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0 and Hellnahrauni, the renewal and maintenance of school playgrounds, and the renewal of paths and electrical systems in Hellisger\u00f0i. A total of approximately 340 million kr\u00f3na in additional maintenance and infrastructure projects for the town. Many projects are already underway, such as the maintenance of school grounds, where work is being carried out according to a priority list. This week, the tender period for repairs to concrete pavements in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur came to an end, so tired pavements in the town's older neighbourhoods will soon be given a new lease of life, with the associated impacts on pedestrian traffic, cycling and possibly, in some cases, vehicular traffic.   <\/p>\n
