The aim of the project is to encourage children to adopt an active mode of travel to and from school and to increase their ability to travel safely in traffic.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/hafnarfjordur.is\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/gongumiskolann2020.jpg\" alt=\"We walk for Iskolann 2020\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1550px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1550\/689;\"><\/p>\n<h4>Participants in over 40 countries<\/h4>\n<p>Every year, millions of children in over 40 countries across the world take part in Walk to School in one way or another. In this country, participation has grown steadily and, in the first year, there were 26 participating schools, but a total of 75 schools had signed up for the event in 2020.
