Saman \u00ed takt is a collaborative project of the Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0ar nursery, primary and music schools.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first joint working day for all school stages and departments at Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0arsk\u00f3li was held at the beginning of last week. Staff from the nursery, primary and music schools gathered in the school's assembly hall. The school leaders gave a presentation on the operations of their respective schools and their expectations for the winter term. In addition, Dr Helga Rut Gu\u00f0mundsd\u00f3ttir, a professor of music education at the Faculty of Education, University of Iceland, delivered a lecture on the effects of music on language development and brain function. To conclude, a tour of the building was offered. The aim of Saman \u00ed takt, a collaborative project for Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0ar's nursery, primary and music schools, is to bring together all the school stages that operate under one roof. Helena Gu\u00f0j\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir, the new project manager at Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0arsk\u00f3li, will oversee the project on behalf of all the school stages. The atmosphere in the school is good and there is a great desire to create a vibrant and diverse school community. <\/p>\n

A unique environment and a unique school \u2013 flow between sites <\/h4>\n

This autumn marks five years since the Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0 primary school opened. This winter, Year 10 was added, and the school is now fully utilised for all year groups. Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0 Nursery School has been in operation for two years, and a magnificent branch of the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Music School and a sports hall were added a year ago. The pandemic has had an impact on the collaboration between the school stages and the flow between departments, and it is safe to say that there is great anticipation for the coming winter. Before the pandemic, the nursery and primary school had managed to coordinate their efforts quite well through various activities for nursery and early primary school pupils, such as story time, a Christmas play and physical activities. In the secondary school, an optional course has been offered where pupils get to observe and try their hand at tasks in the daily work of nursery teachers, both indoors and outdoors, and alongside the older children in the nursery. The young people's participation is primarily focused on interacting with the children in play and work, which fosters joy, responsibility and pride. The project is designed to make it easier for the children to adjust to primary school life, having already become familiar with the area, the building, and even the staff of the primary school. <\/p>\n

School leaders set out a proactive and shared vision for how to integrate human resources to develop and build a dynamic, flowing school programme that adapts to change in step with the times. The enthusiastic and dedicated staff have a direct influence on the school's operations, and the departments have attracted a team of employees who embrace this fluid philosophy and the creation of a unique school community. The branch of the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Music School is equipped with beautiful, high-quality and durable early years musical instruments, and the school aims to fill its spaces with pupils of all ages. The music school appointed its first music therapist in the winter of 2020, who is based at Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0arsk\u00f3li and provides both teaching and advice to all the school's teachers at all levels. <\/p>\n
