At the beginning of the summer, the Healthy Town of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur then aired
\nan idea to the organisation behind Men in Sheds to take charge of building a library tower that
\nIt would be useful as a swap book market all year round. The men in the shed
\nThey used the summer of 2021 to design, build and paint the lighthouse with the involvement of many parties.
\nThe bookshop was officially opened today on the opening day of the Book and Film Festival.

Nursery school children from V\u00ed\u00f0ivellir and \u00c1lfaberg filled a new bookshelf with books.  <\/sup><\/p>\n

The bookshop, already full of books<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The bookstall has been set up on the corner of Hellisgata and
\nReykjav\u00edkurvegur, at one of the several entrances to Hellisger\u00f0i, a public park
\nHafnfir\u00f0inga. It was deemed appropriate on the opening day of the Children's Book and Film Festival.
\nto get a group of nursery school children to take
\npart of the formal opening of the lighthouse by filling it with books from home.
\nEach child left their book in the lighthouse, and now it is full of adventures and
\ninteresting books. Reading and reading comprehension are important to the people of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and are

Men in Sheds is a community project by the Red Cross
\nLaunched at the beginning of 2018 and is now, among other places, located at Helluhrauni 8 in
\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. The project, which is based on an Australian model, is well known throughout
\nEurope and is based on the ideology that men communicate best when they
\nare working shoulder to shoulder with something in their hands. The shed itself is intended as
\nA safe and friendly platform for men aged 18 and over to meet.
\nand work on creative and fun projects, together or on their own
\nat their own pace and on their own terms. The shed at Helluhrauni is open every weekday.
\nfrom 10 am to 12 pm, in addition to which all active members of the project have a key and
\ncan make use of the facility when it suits them. <\/p>\n

Children's Book and Film Festival 2021<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Children's Book and Film Festival, a cultural festival for children in
\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is held from 6th to 13th October. This week will be special.
\nan emphasis on books and films within Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's nursery and primary schools and
\ncreative and fun projects related to both. Purpose
\nthe aim of the festival is to foster children's interest in reading and literacy in the broadest sense and
\nThe festival supports the town's nursery and primary schools' ongoing literacy project.
